Episode # 02 of our Blue-Yellow podcast is online!

On the occasion of the reading day on March 26th, First Vienna Football Club 1894 started a podcast for the first time. In our podcast we will introduce you to historical personalities, events but also interviews and much more about the first and oldest football club in Austria.

A special thanks goes to our club historian and book author Alexander Juraske. In the current episode he will introduce the eventful life of Vienna legend Hans Menasse.

Born in Vienna on 5 March 1930 to a Jewish father Hans Menasse at the age of eight had to flee the Nazi persecution in Vienna on a Kindertransport to Great Britain in dramatic circumstances. He was raised there by a foster family and through his football was able to successfully integrate into society and gain recognition and acceptance. After the war he returned to his parents in Vienna. During his time at the First Vienna Football Club 1894 he became a celebrated football hero and 15 years after his expulsion he won a place on the Austrian national team. Parallel to his foorball career, Menasse also worked as a press officer for an American film distribution company.

In the first episode Alexander Juraske already spoke about Vienna player and concentration camp inmate Karl Glotzmann.
