Martina Mädl Returns to Vienna in a New Role
Six months after hanging up her boots, Martina Mädl is back at Vienna – this time in a new capacity. She has been appointed as Head of Scouting and Analysis in the women’s department, where she will use her extensive football expertise to support the existing coaching staff in a targeted manner.
A Successful Playing Career
Martina Mädl began her football journey in the youth ranks of FC Mönchhof. After a spell at SC Parndorf, she made the move to USC Landhaus, where she quickly became a key player and took on the captain's armband. In 2022, she joined Vienna and immediately established herself as a crucial pillar of the squad. With her experience and relentless commitment, she played a vital role in securing the runner-up finish in the league last season. Following this achievement, she decided to call time on her playing career.
A New Chapter: Taking on a Coaching Staff Role
One thing was clear from the start: while Martina might have stepped away from playing, her passion for football remains unwavering. Even during her playing days, she was actively preparing for her "career after football", gaining valuable experience along the way. During an injury layoff, she supported the coaching staff of the club’s Future League team, showcasing her keen tactical awareness and eye for match analysis.
Now, she officially takes on the role of Head of Scouting and Analysis for Vienna’s women’s team. With her UEFA A License, she is ideally equipped to work closely with head coach Mark Dobrounig and his staff. Her deep understanding of the team and strategic mindset will provide valuable insights to further develop the squad.
For Mädl, this new challenge is an exciting opportunity:
"I’m absolutely thrilled about this new role. Vienna has become very close to my heart over the past few years, and it means a lot to me to remain part of the club. My goal is to support the team with my experience and contribute to the continued growth of women’s football here."
Another Step Toward Professionalization
Martina’s return is not only a major asset for the team but also a strong statement in Vienna’s ongoing commitment to the professionalization of women’s football at Hohe Warte.
Vienna head coach Mark Dobrounig is delighted with the reinforcement in the women’s department:
"Martina was already a true leader on the pitch during her playing career. Her tactical intelligence, experience, and analytical perspective make her an invaluable addition to our staff. With her, we are taking another important step towards greater professionalism and sporting development."
